HUNDEGGER K-2 QUALITY STANDARDS
Burks Fork Log Homes wants to provide the highest quality milling, material, and service that we can. To ensure this we have set our tolerances much smaller than industry standard. Here are a few of our standards for quality that we apply to all of our milling projects.
-
Crown Joist, ridges, Girders, Rafters and any other non-vertical members.
-
In order to properly utilize material, each cross-section category must be cut from longest length to shortest length and optimized for each rough length. Cut as many parts as you can out of one piece, but be sure to cut the longest ones first, also, do not use a small piece that will require a longer piece to satisfy clamping criteria. Failure to do so will result in a shortage of material.
-
Check length by measuring before specifying cut-off.
-
Constantly verify that operations are not creating blow-out or splintering.
-
Constantly verify that splinter-free operations are not creating score marks on visible surfaces.
-
All Tennons shall be cut with a K2 data setting to reduce Tennon width and length by 1.2mm and run test pieces for proper fit.
-
Mortises shall be a minimum of ¼” and not more than ½” deeper than specified in the .bvn.
-
Drillings will be within 1/8” of specified depth.
-
Drillings shall be within 1/16” of specified location.
-
No part length will be more than 1/16” different than specified.
-
Mortis, Tennon, Housing, Dovetail Tennon, Dovetail mortis operations will be within 1/8” of location specified in .bvn
-
All housing depth, length, and width shall be as specified – NO TOLERANCE.
-
Slow positioning speed for housings and dovetails to prevent blow-out.
-
All part numbers to be labeled on end of Tennon and/or other non-visible surface.
-
Be sure to keep PW clamp pads clean to prevent unnecessary damage to product.
-
Always verify proper rotator orientation.
-
Always cut test pieces before cutting the job.
Every manufacturer has different standards and tolerances. Burks Fork Log Homes can and will modify our current standards to meet your individual needs and quality standards.
